About Alan Furst

Alan Furst loves radio.

It’s that ‘in your blood thing’.

AM, FM, shortwave, even longwave.

This blog was designed to help program directors. But it’s for anyone interested in radio. It’s also to help people use branded music, video and messaging to grow their commercial businesses.

Alan’s love affair with radio began at age 5. He spent over 30 years in radio with the last 20 in Senior VP programming management roles for companies like Clear Channel, AM/FM and Capstar.

He was also National Program Director of NewCity Communications consistently rated as one of the “Most Admired’ radio groups in the 1990s, Group Program Director for the Australian Radio Network, Sydney NSW Australia and a Programming Consultant with Shane Media Houston Texas.

Alan was instrumental in development of Capstar’s Starsystem voice tracking concept.

He programmed WLW Cincinnati, WEEP Pittsburgh, WIRE Indianapolis among others. Some of those stations even let him on the air from time to time.

He is former Senior VP Content for DMX, Austin Texas. DMX creates branded experiences through music, video, messaging and scent for a wide range of businesses. Clients include Sheraton, Wynn Las Vegas, American Eagle and Victoria’s Secret.

Currently Alan is on a journey to the next opportunity.  He is involved in a number of radio, marketing and web projects.  And for this his wife is grateful.  It gets him out of the house.

He is a very active DXer and always searching for the next great receiver or antenna system.

It’s lonely living in a blog. Please write to him.

I knew an Alan Furst in college at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant in the late 1970s….you wouldn’t be he, would you?

ABC Will certainly try to keep this airtime and commercial inventory. Ron Chapman has done a good job, but so did Mike Huckabee, but I was never a fan of Fred Thompson in this role.

WHAT A LOT OF YOUNG ADULTS ENTERING IN THE BUSINESS……ANY BUSINESS MUST REALIZE IS THAT THE FIRST TEN OF THOSE YEARS ARE SPEND GETTING GROUNDED, WHICH ALSO WAS MENTIONED IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH…..THANK YOU ALAN FOR ALLOWING THE LISTENERS AN INSIGHT TO WHAT HARD WORK DEVELOPS IN THE LATER YEARS…IT WILL ALWAYS PAY OFF IN THE END.
